FAQs About Lot Clearing

  • How long does lot clearing take?

The timeline for a lot clearing project depends on the size of the lot, the density of vegetation, and the accessibility of the land. Most residential lot clearings can be completed within a day or two, while larger commercial or heavily wooded lots may take several days. At Joe Tree, we provide a realistic timeline up front and work efficiently to stay on schedule.

  • Do I need a permit for lot clearing on Long Island?

Permit requirements vary by town and the scope of the clearing. In many Long Island municipalities, permits are required for significant tree removal or land disturbance. We help our clients navigate these local rules and can point you in the right direction if permits are necessary before we begin.

  • Can you clear land that includes stumps and roots?

Yes. Our lot clearing service includes stump grinding and removal, ensuring your land is not only cleared on the surface but also ready for whatever comes next—whether it’s laying down sod, pouring concrete, or building a structure. We have specialized equipment to remove even stubborn roots efficiently.

  • What happens to the trees and debris you clear?

All debris is either chipped, hauled away, or stacked neatly if you'd like to reuse it for firewood or landscaping. We tailor this part of the service to your preferences. Our goal is to leave your lot completely clean, so there’s no leftover mess to deal with after we’re gone.

  • Is lot clearing safe for my property and nearby structures?

Absolutely. Safety is our top priority during every lot clearing project. Our crew takes extra precautions to avoid damaging fences, driveways, utility lines, or neighboring trees you want to keep. With an owner on-site for every job, you’ll have peace of mind knowing everything is done right.

Just had a 60 year old 100 foot Norway Spruce taken down today.  Several fences, a shed and our house were in close proximity to the tree.  The guys doing the job were awesome.  The job was done in two hours and I couldn’t be happier with their work.  Everything was cleaned up nicely after they finished and no damage was done whatsoever.  Highly recommend Joe Tree - Tree Service.

    Emergency Tree Removal!

I lost a tree which landed in 2 neighbors yards. They came they removed and they cleaned up after themselves.  I was happy but more importantly my two neighbors were happy.

    “Like they were never here”

“I need the number - I want to get a quote”

They will be back in a few weeks to remove  some other “could be causalities”.

I’ve been worrying about the four oak trees on the side of my house falling  during heavy winds.  After the last hurricane barely missed us I decided it was time to remove the trees.

The crew arrived on time and the magic started.  It was like watching tree top ballerina’s with chainsaws.  This process is loud and messy but these guys were up to the task.  All that remains is a pile of mulch were trees use to be.

We are very happy with the results.

They were prompt, courteous and professional.  I got 7 bids they were clearly the lowest.  There was slight damage to the siding that they repaired at their cost.  I highly recommend them.
