What Is the Difference Between Tree Trimming and Pruning in Farmingdale?

Tree trimming and pruning may sound alike, but they serve very different purposes.

Tree trimming in Farmingdale is mostly cosmetic—keeping your landscape neat and shaped. Tree pruning, however, is more focused on structural integrity and long-term health, targeting risky limbs and guiding safe growth.

With Joe Tree’s tree pruning in Farmingdale, your trees won’t just look better—they’ll be healthier, safer, and stronger for years to come.

When Should a Tree Be Pruned in Farmingdale?

Choosing the right time for tree pruning in Farmingdale helps ensure the best results. Typically, we recommend pruning during late winter or early spring while trees are dormant. However, species type and condition can shift the ideal timing.

Here’s what to consider:

✔ Winter/early spring pruning encourages vigorous spring growth
✔ Summer pruning is great for managing quick growth or risk-prone limbs
✔ Emergency pruning is always available after storms or breakage

FAQs About Tree Pruning

  • How much does tree pruning cost on Long Island?

The cost of tree pruning services depends on the tree’s size, location, and condition. At Joe Tree, we offer fair pricing based on actual work done on-site—no inflated quotes or hidden fees. Call us for a free, honest estimate tailored to your property’s needs.

  • Is tree pruning necessary every year?

Not always. Some trees benefit from annual pruning, especially fruit trees or fast growers. Others may only need it every few years. Our experts will assess your trees and create a care plan that matches your property’s needs and your budget.

  • Will pruning damage my tree?

When done by professionals like Joe Tree, tree pruning enhances your tree’s health—not harms it. We follow industry best practices to ensure each cut supports long-term growth, stability, and safety. Poor pruning by untrained hands, however, can permanently damage a tree.

  • Can you prune trees near power lines or structures?

Yes. In fact, that’s one of our specialties. We use precise equipment and advanced rigging techniques to prune even the most challenging trees without damaging nearby buildings, fences, or utilities. Safety is always our top priority.

  • Do you clean up all debris after pruning?

Absolutely. Joe Tree, Tree Service always leaves your property cleaner than we found it. All branches, trimmings, and debris are removed—or stacked neatly, if you want to keep the wood. We treat your home or business with the respect it deserves.

Just had a 60 year old 100 foot Norway Spruce taken down today.  Several fences, a shed and our house were in close proximity to the tree.  The guys doing the job were awesome.  The job was done in two hours and I couldn’t be happier with their work.  Everything was cleaned up nicely after they finished and no damage was done whatsoever.  Highly recommend Joe Tree - Tree Service.

    Emergency Tree Removal!

I lost a tree which landed in 2 neighbors yards. They came they removed and they cleaned up after themselves.  I was happy but more importantly my two neighbors were happy.

    “Like they were never here”

“I need the number - I want to get a quote”

They will be back in a few weeks to remove  some other “could be causalities”.

I’ve been worrying about the four oak trees on the side of my house falling  during heavy winds.  After the last hurricane barely missed us I decided it was time to remove the trees.

The crew arrived on time and the magic started.  It was like watching tree top ballerina’s with chainsaws.  This process is loud and messy but these guys were up to the task.  All that remains is a pile of mulch were trees use to be.

We are very happy with the results.

They were prompt, courteous and professional.  I got 7 bids they were clearly the lowest.  There was slight damage to the siding that they repaired at their cost.  I highly recommend them.
